The Ultimate Checklist Before Submitting Your Website to Directories
You spent 30 minutes filling out a submission form, hit "Submit", and... never heard back. Most directory submissions are rejected not because the site is bad, but because the submission was lazy.
Editors want high-quality data. Give it to them.
The Pre-Submission Checklist
1. [ ] The "Homepage" Test
Does your submitted URL go to a clean homepage?
- Fail:
site.com/landing-page-v3 - Pass:
site.com
2. [ ] broken Link Check
Click your own link. Is it HTTPS? Does it load in under 3 seconds? Editors won't wait for a slow site.
3. [ ] The Tagline (Title)
Keep it short (under 60 chars).
- Bad: "We are the best company for doing marketing things."
- Good: "AI-Powered Marketing Automation for Agencies."
4. [ ] The Description (Unique!)
Do not copy-paste. Google hates duplicate content. Rewrite your description slightly for every single directory.
- Tip: Focus on features for Directory A, and benefits for Directory B.
5. [ ] High-Res Screenshots
Upload a crisp 1920x1080 screenshot of your dashboard or hero section. Blurry images = automatic rejection.
6. [ ] Social Proof
If the form asks for social links, include them. An active Twitter account proves you are a real business.
7. [ ] Contact Info
Have a "Contact" or "About" page visible on your site. Directories want to know there is a human behind the domain.
8. [ ] Category Accuracy
Don't pick "Business" if you are a "Crypto" tool just to get more views. You will be removed. Be specific.
9. [ ] Check Keywords
Include 1-2 target keywords in your description naturally. Don't stuff them.
10. [ ] The Reciprocal Link (Optional)
Some small directories ask for a link back. Only do this if they are high quality. TapJoin does NOT require a link back.
